On April 11, 2026, Afromeals Foundation welcomed guests, community leaders, sponsors, and supporters to Cincinnati Public Radio for an unforgettable evening of culture, community, and impact during its fundraiser event, Experience the Culture: A Tour of Africa.

The event brought together people from across Cincinnati, Dayton, Northern Kentucky, and surrounding communities to support Afromeals Foundation's mission of improving food access, nutrition education, culturally relevant wellness programming, and community food advocacy for underserved communities.

A Night Centered Around Culture, Community, and Food

From the moment guests arrived for the cocktail hour, the evening focused on more than fundraising. It was designed to create connection, celebrate culture, and highlight the important role food plays in identity, dignity, and wellness.

Guests experienced African-inspired cuisine, cultural performances, storytelling, and meaningful conversations about food insecurity, nutrition education, and community support. The evening featured performances by Bi-Okoto, whose vibrant cultural presentation helped bring energy and celebration to the event, alongside participation from Mary's International Fashion.

Supporting Food Access and Nutrition Education

The fundraiser helped raise awareness and support for Afromeals Foundation's ongoing community initiatives focused on:

  • Hands-on cooking classes
  • Nutrition and food education
  • Community meal and ingredient distribution
  • Youth and family wellness programming
  • Culturally relevant food access initiatives
  • Food literacy and self-sufficiency education

Community Partnerships and Sponsors

The success of the fundraiser was made possible through the support of community sponsors, partners, and supporters. Afromeals Foundation extends appreciation to sponsors and supporters including Jungle Jim's, Cincinnati Bengals, Bi-Okoto, and Afromeals.

Councilwoman Meeka Owens attended the event and shared encouraging remarks in support of the organization's work and growing community impact.

Media Coverage and Community Visibility

The event also received local media attention, helping bring greater visibility to conversations surrounding food insecurity, culturally inclusive wellness initiatives, and the importance of community-based nutrition education. Local 12/WKRC covered the event and highlighted the mission and impact of Afromeals Foundation's work throughout the community.

Looking Ahead

As Afromeals Foundation continues to grow, the organization remains committed to building programs that combine food access, nutrition education, cultural connection, and long-term community wellness.

The success of Experience the Culture: A Tour of Africa reflects what is possible when communities come together to support meaningful and sustainable impact. Through partnerships, sponsorships, community support, and educational programming, Afromeals Foundation hopes to continue expanding its reach and creating opportunities for individuals and families to access both nourishment and knowledge.
